Manitoba Clubs shine at Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships

2017-10-10

All seven Manitoba clubs placed in the top five of their respective divisions, with four clubs taking home medals.

The U17 Cup in Fredericton, New Brusnwick saw Bonivital SC U17B be crowned Toyota National Champions after a fantastic tournament where they went undefeated, capping it off with a 3-1 finals victory over Quebec's CS Mistral Sherbrooke. It was sweet redemption for the team after they fell 1-0 in the gold medal match at last year's National Championships.

Bonivital SC U17G placed fourth overall after dropping a tough 1-0 decision to Nova Scotia's Suburban FC in the bronze medal match.

In the U15 Cup in Calgary, Alberta the Bonivital SC U15B captured their second bronze medal in as many years after defeating Ontario's London Youth Whitecaps 1-0.

The U15G were represented by FC Northwest who finished fourth overall after a tough bronze medal match loss against Alberta's Inter SC Edmonton.

The Challenge Trophy was played in Surrey, British Columbia and saw FC Winnipeg Lions drop a heartbreaker on the final day, 1-0 to Western Halifax FC. The club took home a silver medal to go along with their previous two bronze and one gold which they've won over the clubs 22 year exsistence.

The Western Masters club championships took place in Edmonton at the end of September and saw the women's representatives for Manitoba Classics SC finish fifth overall, while the men's representatives Rovers FC took home a bronze medal.

Congratulations to all teams who took place in this years provincial and national tournaments.
