Whitecaps FC Manitoba Prospects - Regional Excel Centre (REX)

Manitoba Soccer's Regional Excel Centre program is the province's invite-only, Winnipeg-based, player-centered, comprehensive training environment for U13-U17 female and male players with high potential. This allows players to accumulate high-quality training hours where they will begin to develop high performing attributes in the four corners of development. 

The program is a steppingstone into the Canada Soccer EXCEL National Pathway, preparing players for opportunities to advance to the National Development Centres, Youth National Teams, university, college, and professional football. 

The Regional Excel Centre program is partnered with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, collaborating on high performance programming initiatives to help support the development and advancement of top female and male prospects. The program is also partnered with Sport Manitoba, providing support in the areas of performance nutrition to strengthening and conditioning to clinic services. The Sport Manitoba Performance Centre provides comprehensive athlete services designed to empower athletes with the mental and physical skill sets they need to achieve their full athletic potential. The Sport Manitoba Clinic provides services from athletic therapy to x-ray, designed to provide each athlete with comprehensive, customised care. 

The REX program runs from October to April, with 3-4 training sessions, 1 match, 2 strength & conditioning sessions, and 1 classroom session per week. Training takes place Monday to Friday starting at 6:30 AM at WSF South. There is no cost to the player outside of potential travel costs.

How do players join?

The REX program is for players by invitation-only. Players are identified and invited into the program in some the following ways:

• Previous year's participants
• Club/Academy TD recommendations
• Scouting
• Identification events
